Budget 2026, opened up.
Every chapter, measure and dollar in Canada's federal budget, Masters of our destiny, on one map. Follow the money from the big numbers to the page it came from, then see what it could mean for your household, your trade or your business.
01Follow the money

02Read the figures correctly
Four kinds of money. Don't add them up.
Budget announcements mix spending, tax changes, loans and savings, often stated over different periods and on different accounting bases. Every measure on this site carries its type.
Program spending
New or extended spending, shown as the yearly impact on the budgetary balance (accrual basis).
e.g. Mackenzie Valley Highway: $3,100M over five years.
Tax measures
Changes delivered through the tax system: deductions, credits and tax-based benefits. The cost is forgone revenue, not a program cheque.
e.g. Productivity Mega Deduction: $36.1B of forgone revenue over five years.
Loans, equity and financing
Money lent or invested through Crown corporations and funds. It is borrowed and expected back, so the face value is not a budgetary cost.
e.g. $32B in apartment construction loans; up to $1.6B equity in Cohere.
Savings and revenue
Measures that improve the balance: spending reviews, recoveries, compliance and new revenue.
e.g. Strengthening tax compliance: −$1.1B net.
03Six chapters
Where the new measures land.
Five-year net impact of each chapter's measures on the budgetary balance, from the chapter cost tables. Investment Supercycle is mostly the Productivity Mega Deduction, a tax measure.
04Lenses
Read the budget for your part of it.
Lenses are our editorial tags, not a government classification. Each lens page keeps spending, tax measures and savings in separate totals.

06Warre & Vavasour perspective · commercial commentary
You might have heard the world is going to war. Well, Canada is going to WORK.
A federal budget is the start of a long chain. Money becomes programs. Programs become projects. Projects become tenders, and tenders become work for the people who can deliver. We sit at the back half of that chain: we find the work, read the package, build the plan and put the tools in the ground faster, so projects are more precise and deliverables get done.
- BudgetOttawa sets priorities and money
- ProgramsDepartments and agencies design the rules
- ProjectsAgencies, provinces and towns pick what gets built
- RFPsContracts go out to tender on CanadaBuys and APC
- PlansWe read the package and build the plan with you
- ToolsWe put working tools in the ground, fast
- DeliveryPrecise projects, delivered on time
An announcement is not an open grant or tender. Programs open on their own timelines, under their own rules. Check official program pages and live procurement notices before acting. Nothing here implies government endorsement, funding eligibility or a contract award.
