Defence & security in Budget 2026
Defence and security measures include the Defence Drone Initiative, Operation REASSURANCE, the defence industrial base under a Buy Canadian policy, sovereign intelligence and NATO commitments.
Totals are five-year net impacts on the budgetary balance, kept separate by money type. A measure can appear under several lenses, so lens totals overlap and should not be added together.
Defence procurement is opening to more Canadian suppliers, mostly as subcontractors to primes. Security clearances, quality systems and documentation decide who gets in.
